    Aerial thermal image acquisition is the process of collecting infrared data from a drone-mounted thermal sensor during flight. The quality of the collected data depends on proper pre-flight preparation, in-flight technique, and post-flight verification. Unlike ground-based inspections, aerial thermography introduces challenges related to altitude, motion, environmental variability, and limited opportunities for re-capture.

    At the Thermography Level I scope, aerial image acquisition focuses on accurate, repeatable data capture in accordance with the approved mission plan. Interpretation and diagnostic conclusions are the responsibility of Level II or Level III personnel.
