Tube wells consist of a casing with screen or perforations near the bottom of the well. The casing, normally made of steel, PVC plastic, concrete, or fiberglass, is installed during or after the drilling process to stabilize the hole and allow water, but not subterranean particles, to move into the well. The lower portion of the casing is perforated, slotted, or screened with openings sized to minimize the entry of subterranean particles from the aquifer medium into the well.
