Pro Tips for Electrical & HVAC Maintenance

Turn off power at the breaker before working on electrical circuits.
Label wires and terminals to simplify future troubleshooting.
Use proper wire gauge for the application to prevent overheating.
Test voltage before touching any wires using a non-contact tester.
Secure electrical connections with wire nuts or terminal blocks.
Keep wiring diagrams accessible for quick troubleshooting.
Follow proper grounding procedures to prevent electrical hazards.
Inspect capacitors for swelling or leaks before replacing components.
Use a clamp meter to check compressor and fan motor amp draw.

    HVAC Electrical System Maintenance Checklist

Inspect wiring for signs of wear or corrosion.
Tighten all electrical connections to avoid loose terminals.
Test circuit breakers and fuses for proper operation.
Check motor windings for continuity and resistance.

Verify proper voltage and amperage draw on electrical components.
Inspect contactors and relays for carbon buildup or pitting.
Ensure correct thermostat function and recalibrate if needed.
Examine electrical enclosures for proper sealing against moisture.
Check for proper phase rotation on three-phase systems.
Test ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for safety compliance.
