    To understand why tractors matter, it helps to walk through their daily lives on the farm.

    When spring arrives, a tractor’s first duty is plowing—turning over the soil, loosening it, and burying last year’s weeds. The smell of fresh earth behind a plow marks the true beginning of a growing season.

    Next comes planting and seeding. With a seed drill or planter hitched behind, the tractor lays down neat rows at precise depths, ensuring each seed has the best chance to sprout.

    As crops emerge, tractors return for watering and irrigation. They haul tanks, power pumps through their power-take-off shafts, and drag portable sprinklers across the fields to keep plants alive under the summer sun.

    When the harvest nears, the same tractor may pull a combine or a baler, collecting grain or rolling hay into tight bales. The farmer who once walked behind a horse now commands tons of machinery that can gather in an afternoon what used to take weeks.

    Between these major seasons, tractors fill every imaginable role—hauling trailers loaded with fertilizer, feed, or equipment; mowing tall grass along field edges; spreading nutrients and pesticides across acres; or grading roads and leveling ground for new barns.

    Even beyond agriculture, they serve the community. In winter, the same machines clear snow from roads and schoolyards. In summer, municipalities use them to maintain parks and trails.

    On livestock farms, tractors carry feed and bedding, scrape manure from stalls, and keep barns clean. Each of these jobs might seem small, but together they define modern rural life. Without tractors, the rhythm of farm work would slow to a crawl.

    Municipal and Public Work — Snow removal, roadside mowing, trail maintenance, and park care.
