Chapter 1: Foundations of Data Analytics — Assessments

    Learning Objectives

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:

    1. Define data analytics and explain its role in transforming raw data into actionable insights.

    2. Classify the four types of analytics (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive) and the questions each answers.

    3. Describe the seven stages of the data-to-insight lifecycle from goal definition through action.

    4. Differentiate between the roles of data analyst, data scientist, and data engineer.

    5. Apply the analytics type framework to classify real-world business questions.

    6. Trace data through the lifecycle stages using a practical case study (MobileFlow).
