    Critical Thinking Questions

    1. A startup with $5K/month cloud budget needs analytics infrastructure for 10TB of data. Compare a fully serverless approach (Athena + S3 + QuickSight) vs. a provisioned approach (Redshift cluster). Which is more cost-effective at this scale? At what scale does the calculation change?

    2. The HSBC case study shows 16x faster risk modeling on Google Cloud. What factors beyond raw compute speed contribute to this improvement? Consider: parallelism, on-demand scaling, elimination of capacity planning, and modern query engines.

    3. A healthcare organization wants to move patient analytics to the cloud but is concerned about HIPAA compliance and data sovereignty. What specific cloud features and practices address these concerns? Is cloud actually more or less secure than on-premises for healthcare data?
