    AI-Powered Analytics and Augmented Intelligence

AI-powered analytics refers to embedding artificial intelligence (ML, NLP, computer vision, etc.) into analytics tools to generate insights automatically. This includes features like intelligent data visualization, natural language query, and predictive analytics built into BI platforms. For instance, IBM Watson Analytics and SAP Analytics Cloud offer automated pattern detection and natural language reports. In practice, a retailer might use AI-driven analytics to automatically detect unusual sales patterns or customer segments that warrant action.

Augmented intelligence emphasizes the collaboration between humans and AI. Instead of AI replacing humans, augmented intelligence tools assist human analysts. As an IEEE overview notes, augmented intelligence “uses machine learning and deep learning to provide humans with actionable data,” acting as a “virtual assistant for data scientists” to mine big data for patterns [9].

In business, augmented analytics might surface insights (e.g. what factors most influence churn) and let a human analyst interpret or adjust them. For example, a credit officer might use an AI tool that highlights suspicious transaction patterns but still makes the final judgment.

Augmented intelligence also tackles cognitive overload: tools like Tableau Ask Data or Power BI Q&A let users query data in natural language. These tools use AI to parse queries and generate visualizations, making analytics more accessible. In customer service, chatbots use NLP to handle routine queries while complex cases are escalated to human agents – a clear example of human+AI collaboration. Overall, AI-powered analytics platforms combined with human judgment enable organizations to “improve human decision-making by handling large amounts of data” more effectively.
