Summary

In this chapter we attempted to clarify the connection between hospitality and the domains of parks and recreation, noting that it is an often-overlooked opportunity that is ripe for hospitality professionals who are eager to serve. While hospitality, parks, and recreation come from different origins and traditions, they are inextricably aligned to facilitate the needs of communities in the spirit of serving guests. The breadth of opportunity is staggering, from providing direct and indirect guest services across commercial, not-for-profit, and public sectors, to the individual and collective expertise required to deliver these guest services. After reading this chapter you now have an additional perspective on the opportunities available to you to not only find a career with meaning to you but one that also has meaning to others.
