Section Overview
Strategic decision-making improves with reflection. After completing your outsourcing analysis, it’s important to step back and consider what your team learned—not only about the project, but about the process of planning, collaborating, and navigating complexity.
This section helps you analyze your decision-making approach, recognize tradeoffs, and capture insights you can apply in future milestones. In a professional setting, these types of reflections are used during post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions.

By completing this section, you will be able to:
- Identify challenges you faced during the planning process
- Reflect on how your team approached decisions under uncertainty
- Evaluate how your initial assumptions changed over time
- Translate lessons learned into actionable takeaways
Instructions
Each team member should reflect individually on the questions below. Then, as a group, synthesize your insights into a team summary. Your team may choose to assign one person to record responses, or use a shared document to collect thoughts collaboratively.
Reflection Prompts
Respond to each prompt below in 3–5 sentences. These reflections may be used in your final presentation and will help assess the depth of your strategic thinking.

Think about what you assumed going in versus what you discovered through analysis. -
Which decision was the hardest to make, and why?
Consider moments of uncertainty or disagreement. What tradeoffs had to be managed? -
What would you do differently next time?
If you were advising another team starting the same process, what would you recommend they focus on earlier? -
What strengths did your team demonstrate?
Identify how your team worked well—e.g., delegation, analysis, creative thinking, risk awareness. -
How did your team approach uncertainty or gaps in the project plan?
How did you validate assumptions, and how did you stay aligned? -
What does this experience teach you about outsourcing in real-world projects?
What patterns, risks, or misconceptions did this exercise help clarify?
Team Reflection Summary
Write a single paragraph summarizing what your team learned from the milestone. You can quote individual team members if you like, or synthesize common insights into a unified reflection.
This section does not need to be formal, but it should demonstrate that your team thought deeply and critically about the experience—not just the outcome.
Tips and Guidance
- Be honest. The goal of reflection is improvement, not perfection.
- Capture disagreements and how you resolved them—they are often the most valuable insights.
- Use this section as a springboard into your team presentation, if one is required.
- Don’t wait until the last minute. Reflecting while the experience is fresh leads to better insight.
Deliverable
Each team must submit:
- Individual or group responses to all six reflection questions
- A final paragraph summarizing the team’s overall takeaways
This section will not be scored based on “right answers,” but on depth of thought, clarity, and engagement with the planning process.
