    What You Will Submit – Your First Deliverables as a Project Leader

    Before you begin your first milestone in Chapter 1, your team must establish its foundation. This chapter helps you do just that—by stepping into your leadership role and getting your team organized.

    In this section, we clarify exactly what you’re expected to produce, why each deliverable matters, and how each one connects to real-world project management responsibilities.

    These are not “schoolwork” tasks. These are the building blocks of your project and your professional development.

    Deliverable 1: Team Role Assignment Sheet

    Purpose:
    To clarify who is leading what across functional areas—so that no task falls through the cracks.

    What You Must Include

    • Names of team members assigned to each core role (e.g., PM, Finance, IT, Presenter)
    • Optional: secondary support roles or co-leads
    • Notes or expectations for each role (e.g., timeline owner, formatting lead)

    Why It Matters Professionally
    Real project teams succeed because people know their roles and take ownership. This document models how roles are defined in kickoff meetings and team onboarding sessions.

    Deliverable 2: Project Process Planning Sheet

    Purpose:
    To define how your team will operate on a day-to-day basis—before conflict, missed deadlines, or communication breakdowns occur.

    What You Must Include

    • Your communication tool (Slack, Discord, email, etc.)
    • Meeting frequency and team expectations
    • Decision-making and conflict resolution methods
    • File naming conventions and shared folder practices
    • Ownership of team culture (e.g., who facilitates feedback?)

    Why It Matters Professionally:
    In the workplace, strong teams don’t just work together—they operate with intention. This sheet is your contract for collaboration.

    Deliverable 3: PM Reflection Journal (Individual)

    Optional but strongly encouraged

    Format: Short paragraph or bullet list (1–2 pages max)
    Purpose:
    To help you reflect on what it means to lead before you’re thrown into the role under pressure.

    What You Might Include

    • What leadership means to you
    • What kind of PM you hope to be
    • What strengths or anxieties you bring into this role
    • How you plan to support your team

    Why It Matters Professionally:
    Great project managers don’t just manage tasks—they manage themselves. Awareness of your communication style, triggers, and tendencies will help you lead with empathy and clarity.

    Optional Deliverables (Instructor Discretion)

    Depending on your instructor’s preference, you may also be asked to submit:

    • A screenshot of your shared folder setup
    • A calendar invite showing your first team check-in
    • A copy of your first internal task plan from the Work Planning Guide

    These serve as early “proof of readiness” before your project officially begins.
