Welcome to Project Planning and Control: A Practicum
Dear Students,
Welcome. Today, you’re not just starting a class—you’re stepping into a leadership role.
This course is different. You won’t just learn project management terms or memorize frameworks. Instead, you’ll take on real roles, face real scenarios, and create real deliverables. You’ll think like a project manager, act like a consultant, and lead like someone who knows how to get things done—even when things are messy, uncertain, or off-track.
Each week, you’ll build something valuable: a project charter, a work breakdown structure, a budget, a dashboard, a quality system. And with each one, you’ll practice the skills that matter most in the real world—clarity, communication, decision-making, and follow-through.
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to show up ready to try, reflect, and grow.
Mistakes are part of the process. So is figuring things out with your team. So is asking better questions. What matters is that you treat every milestone like it matters—because in a real project, it does.
By the end of this practicum, you won’t just have completed a course.
You’ll have built a portfolio, practiced real-world leadership, and proven—to yourself most of all—that you’re ready to lead with confidence.
