    What You Will Submit

Title: Project Scope, Architecture, Approach, Deliverables, and Structure

    Purpose of This Submission

In this milestone, your role is to produce a structured, client-ready planning package that defines the foundation of how the project will be delivered. Your submission must reflect professional thinking, strategic clarity, and a deep understanding of what it means to lead—not just support—a complex project.

These are not academic exercises. They are deliverables you would be expected to produce as part of a real-world engagement—submitted to a sponsor or executive for approval before the project moves into planning execution.

This milestone gives your team the opportunity to:

    • Translate purpose (from the Charter) into an operational framework
    • Establish clarity across scope, sequencing, delivery, and governance
    • Prevent future confusion, misalignment, or reactive project management
    • Provide an agreed-upon structure that all stakeholders can reference throughout the life of the project

    Required Components

You are expected to submit five fully developed sections, presented in the following order. Each section should stand on its own with a clear heading and professional formatting.

    Section 1 – Project Scope

    You will:

    • Define the boundaries of the project
    • Break down scope by phase (Planning, Design, Implementation, etc.)
    • Identify exclusions, assumptions, and external dependencies
    • Write in clear, objective, business-appropriate language

    Deliverable Length: 1–2 pages

    Section 2 – Architecture Overview

    You will:

    • Present a high-level description of the proposed solution or system
    • Describe key components, user roles, and functional interactions
    • Identify anticipated integration points and design assumptions
    • Avoid technical specifications—focus on clarity and conceptual structure

    Deliverable Length: 1–2 pages

    Section 3 – Project Approach

    You will:

    • Select a delivery model (e.g., phased, hybrid, iterative)
    • Justify its use based on project and client context
    • Break the project into sequenced phases with clear transitions
    • Explain governance and stakeholder involvement at each stage
    • Propose a backup or contingency strategy in case the primary model proves unworkable

    Deliverable Length: 1.5–2.5 pages

    Section 4 – Project Deliverables

    You will:

    • List and describe the tangible outcomes produced in each project phase
    • Clarify when deliverables are due and who is responsible for producing and approving them
    • Link deliverables to major milestones or decision gates
    • Group deliverables logically to help future scheduling efforts

    Deliverable Length: 1–2 pages

Section 5 – Project Organizational Structure

    You will:

    • Define how the project team is arranged and governed
    • List key roles and describe their responsibilities
    • Map out reporting lines, coordination points, and escalation flows
    • Describe any review boards or governance committees

    Deliverable Length: 1–2 pages

    What a Strong Submission Demonstrates

    • Clear connection between scope, architecture, and delivery plan
    • Strategic thinking applied across all five sections
    • Logical flow that supports both internal team execution and client confidence
    • Attention to planning details that prevent downstream confusion
    • Writing style suitable for real-world stakeholder or sponsor review

    What to Avoid

    • Generic or templated language not adapted to your project
    • Vague descriptions (“system will have features,” “team will work hard”)
    • Overly technical or overly academic tone
    • Poor structure, missing sections, or unclear formatting
    • Submitting sections out of sequence or without clear headings
