One of the biggest misconceptions about risk management is that it is primarily about filling out forms, maintaining spreadsheets, or updating documentation. While documentation is important, effective risk management is fundamentally about improving decision-making. A risk matrix cannot make a decision for you. A contingency plan cannot eliminate uncertainty. A stakeholder map cannot guarantee alignment. A Note About Frameworks and Terminology
Many of the concepts and methods used in this practicum are inspired by established practices from project management, systems thinking, quality improvement, organizational learning, healthcare operations, software engineering, and leadership development.
Different organizations often use different names for similar concepts. For example:
