    Regina Pierce-Brown

    Regina Pierce-Brown teaches business real estate as a faculty member at Victor Valley College and is also a part-time real estate instructor at University of Arizona, Global Campus. She is a California real estate broker, licensed since 1988. As a real estate brokerage owner/operator, she advises other aspiring brokerage owners/managers through her consulting company.

    Currently, Regina is studying at Liberty University to earn her Ph.D. in Education - Instructional Design & Technology. She earned her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Azusa Pacific University with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Prior to that, she earned her bachelor’s degree in real estate from Forbes School of Business & Technology at Ashford University and her Technical Writing Certificate from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Her higher education journey began with earning dual associate degrees from Cuesta Community College in Real Estate and Business Management.

    In addition to her past service with non-profit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Regina is proud to be a Realtist member of NAREB. She has earned the prestigious GRI designation, a GREEN certification, and the ePro REALTOR® certification. Regina is honored to work with her outstanding colleagues in writing this textbook, which is an effective tool facilitating student success. She looks forward to helping shape the future of the real estate and business industry.

    Alana J. Gates

    Alana Gates has held the role of a professor and department facilitator of Real Estate at Santiago Canyon College since 2016, contributing to the next generation's understanding of the real estate landscape.

    Alana has been a licensed Realtor since 2006. Her journey has seen her evolve from residential real estate rentals and sales to a keen focus on compliance and transaction coordination since 2011, embracing the intricate details of contracts and legal aspects. As a meticulous transaction coordinator, she acted as a project manager, orchestrating seamless collaborations among various stakeholders—agents, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, escrow, lenders, title, and inspectors.

    Alana is proudly an active member of the Association of Realtors, she extends her commitment beyond transactions by actively contributing to the education committee and the Professional Standards Committee, specializing in Arbitration/Mediation. Additionally, she served as a Real Estate Compliance Manager, delving into the intricate world of contracts, disclosures, and the regulatory landscape. Alana stays abreast of industry changes through regular attendance at classes.

    Alana is a seasoned real estate professional driven by a passion for simplifying the complexities of relocation, after her personal experience of relocating from Australia. Since becoming a licensed Realtor in 2006, she dedicated her career to aiding relocations and guiding first-time buyers through the intricacies of real estate transactions.

    Armed with a Business Administration degree, emphasizing Human Resource Management from CSUF, she brings over 30 years of experience in sales, management, training, and development.

    Alana earned the California Community Colleges “Advancing Real Estate Education Award” for 2024 from California Community College Real Estate Education Center (CCCREEC) at the annual Spring 2024 meeting.

    Barbara G. Cox

    Barbara Cox, Ph.D., currently serves as faculty member at Santiago Canyon College (SCC). She recently retired as a faculty member and co-chair of the business department at Saddleback College where she taught real estate. Barbara has taught real estate since 1998. She has authored numerous textbooks, three of which are in the field of real estate. With David Silver-Westrick and Jerry Cox, she co-authored the Plain Language Dictionary of Real Estate, which is currently being translated into Spanish with support from Santiago Canyon College. She earned her Ph.D. in education and in psychology from Stanford University.

    Crystal M. Barry

    Crystal Barry holds a Master of Business Administration from the National University and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from California State University, San Bernardino. In addition, she is a licensed California Real Estate Broker, with over a decade of sales experience.

    After completing her MBA, Crystal desired a balance between her career ambitions and her commitment to family life. In her journey to make a meaningful impact in people's lives, she discovered her calling in the real estate industry.

    Having experienced homeownership firsthand, Crystal has developed a passion for helping others grasp the importance of owning a home and its significant impact on building generational wealth. Her dedication to positively influencing others drives her to approach every real estate challenge with enthusiasm and determination.

    Crystal currently serves as a part-time faculty member, teaching business real estate courses at Victor Valley College. When she's not teaching, she channels her passion into building her portrait photography business!

    Joseph “Joe” Chavez

    Joseph “Joe” Chavez graduated from CSU San Bernardino, earning dual Bachelor's Degrees (B.A.) in Business Administration with concentrations of Finance and Real Estate in 2000. That same year, he obtained his California real estate salesperson license. Joe has worked for several large real estate firms, as well as a small family-operated realty business. He has been active in the real estate business for 23 years.

    Mr. Chavez taught as an adjunct faculty at CSU San Bernardino from 2005 to 2008, and at Victor Valley College from 2018 to present. Courses taught include: real estate principles, real estate practice, real estate finance, legal aspects of real estate, and real estate appraisal.

    Joe is currently a full-time Business Tax Administrator within the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. He has been employed with the agency for 18 years and has taught various classes for the department. He appreciates teaching in the classroom and facilitating his students’ success. He enjoys sharing his experience with students using methods that can be applied to their careers.

    Julia M. Wendt

    Julia Wendt, Ph.D., is a part-time faculty member for Political Science at Victor Valley College, and a department chair and full-time faculty member for Cooperative Education, where students can earn college credit for working in internships, externships or their places of employment. Political Science and International Relations have been her interests since she was young. In 1983, she was impacted by “The Day After”, a movie that depicted what nuclear war, and the aftermath, could resemble. She then became heavily interested in all issues and history relating to war, weapon proliferation, and foreign policy.

    Julia earned her Doctorate in Political Science and a Master of International Studies from Claremont Graduate University, a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of San Diego, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations with a minor in Theology from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Her Ph.D. dissertation centered on calculating the pro- and counter-cyclical effects of international investments in human capital alongside social and economic factors.

    Kevin T. Hall

    Kevin Hall started in the real estate industry in 1977 as a title company messenger. Later he moved into Customer Service and Sales, giving him the opportunity to work with some of the top agents in San Diego County.

    In 1984, he was licensed as a California Real Estate Broker, and since then he has worked in the real estate industry in a variety of roles including lending and property management. The majority of his experience has been as the Director of Operations for the Gary Kent Team of Keller Williams for over 22 years which merged in 2022 with Cane Real Estate of Keller Williams. In 2023, he retired from management and continues as a producing real estate agent for the team. During his tenure with Gary Kent and Brian Cane, he has supervised over 3,000 transactions for the teams.

    Since the late 80's Kevin has been bringing his real-world real estate experience to students at Palomar Community College, teaching courses in Principles, Practice, Finance, Property Management, and Investments. In the 90's he taught graduate and undergraduate courses at his alma mater, National University, where he earned his BBA in 1984 and his MBA in Finance in 1986. In addition, he and his wife Julia have accumulated several investment properties in California and Arizona.

    Stacy Rollstin-Weiland

    Stacy Rollstin-Weiland is a dedicated academic librarian with a passion for fostering information literacy and providing access to information. Stacy's academic journey reflects her various interests and commitment to learning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Religious Studies, which underscores her appreciation for diverse perspectives and cultural narratives. Building upon this interdisciplinary background, Stacy pursued her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), recognizing the pivotal role of libraries in facilitating knowledge dissemination and intellectual growth.

    As a faculty reference librarian, Stacy is driven by a passionate commitment to providing equitable access to high-quality resources and nurturing information literacy skills among students and faculty alike.
