Summary

In this chapter, we learned about and defined festivals, sporting events, entertainment events, and expositions. We also learned briefly about the history and significance behind some larger events. We met Allyson Jackson and learned about her approach and daily life as a General Manager of a convention center. There was a brief look at how sustainability, technology, accessibility, diversity, and inclusion impact the event industry. Most of all we learned that to be successful it will require you to be flexible and be willing to improvise, adapt, and overcome any situation your current event throws your way. As Allyson Jackson said, no two days are the same.
