    DeLTA is a team of UGA faculty and administrators who work collaboratively to make teaching evaluation more useful for faculty, students, and departments. This project has received grant support from the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. DeLTA works with faculty, departments, and institutional governance to advance best practices for teaching evaluation.

    DeLTA works side-by-side with departments as they consider how to shift their teaching evaluation practices to better meet their needs. DeLTA works with department heads in the Leadership Action Team (LAT) over the course of a year to learn about robust and equitable teaching evaluation practices and to endorse the adoption of new practices in their departments. DeLTA also works with faculty advocates in the Catalyzing Action Team (CAT). These faculty leaders are identified by their department head due to their interests and expertise. The CAT meets with facilitators biweekly for a year to learn about robust and equitable teaching evaluation, adapt and build new department practices, and pilot these practices, in consultation with their department chair. The faculty advocates also work alongside the department chair to cultivate faculty buy-in. The outcomes of the LAT and CAT include shifts in thinking about teaching evaluation and concrete plans for new departmental practices that move beyond sole reliance on student evaluations. These new practices may involve teaching self-reflection, peer observation of teaching, and new approaches to gathering or using student evaluation data.

    The goal of this LibreTexts is to share resources with CAT and LAT members within UGA and with partners at other institutions implementing a similar approach.
