The act of gaining ownership of real property; for example purchasing it or receiving it as a donation or inheritance. |

Benefit Packages |
Compensation offered in addition to salary for a position. This often includes medical insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. |

Budget |
Financial resources a government agency has available to spend on expenses. |

CalCareers |
Website used by most California State agencies to identify and screen candidates for open positions. https://www.calcareers.ca.gov |

Charitable Estate |
Ownership of property donated to a charity at the death of the owner. |
|
Conception |
The phase of a project that includes brainstorming and developing a plan to implement. |
|
County Tax Assessor |
Elected official responsible for identifying the value of real property for property tax purposes. |
|
Disposition |
The act of disposing (selling) or transferring ownership of real property to a new owner. |
|
Executive Branch |
Branch of federal government that includes the president, vice president, and the cabinet. The executive branch implements and enforces the laws written by Congress. |
|
General Schedule (GS) pay system: |
Pay schedule or pay scale used by the federal government to determine the amount of pay earned by federal employees. |
|
Housing Authority |
County office that works to locate and secure low income housing for eligible residents. |
|
Incumbent |
A person who is currently holding a career position. |
|
Inheritance |
Property gained as an heir at the death of the previous owner. |
|
Instrumentality |
Non-Government Agency that is independently managed independent of the government, however funded by the government due to its public service. |
|
Intern |
Staff member concurrently working at an agency while attending school; typically working in a training position. |
|
Invaluable |
A value that can not be attributed to a number or amount. |
|
Local level of government |
Level of government that includes cities and counties. |
|
Procurement |
The action of acquiring property; for example, purchasing the property. |
|
Public Sector |
The part of the economy that is controlled by the Government and its institutions. Agencies operated by the government, including government agencies, public schools, public hospitals, and other government-run organizations. |
|
Quasi Government Agencies |
A private entity or company supported by the government to provide a service to the public. |
|
Salary Schedule |
Document published by an employer showing the minimum and maximum pay scales for positions. |
|
Vacant |
A career position that does not currently have an employee assigned. |
|
White Collar |
Term to describe employees who complete work in an office or behind a desk. Typically, these positions require higher education. |
|
Will/Trust |
Legal documents used to determine the ownership of property after a death. |
|
Work-life Balance |
The ratio of time dedicated between work and leisure. |
