REDLINING
Redlining is illegal. A legal reference to the concept of redlining on a racial basis is contained in a court ruling on the case Laufman v Oakley Building and Loan Company, 1976. Although there are examples of some forms of redlining today, be aware that federal and state laws prohibit using this practice in any manner (reference the Laufman v Oakley court case here: https://www.clearinghouse.net/chDocs/public/FH-OH-0008-0001.pdf

- Redlining, Steering, Panic Peddling, Blockbusting | Real Estate Exam Prep by The Real Estate Classroom (8:20) video: https://youtu.be/wFk2G9Q7aiU
As evidenced by the Laufman case, redlining is discrimination based on geographic location, particularly in low-income or inner-city neighborhoods. A recent article on this concept is entitled “Why Redlining and Discrimination are Still Real Estate’s Problem”. It’s an interesting perspective that may help you better understand the reason for the problem. The access to the article is as follows: https://www.inman.com/2017/04/03/why-redlining-and-discrimination-are-still-real-estates-problem
