There are a number of different treatment and distribution water utility careers ranging from laborer to skilled technicians. Each has a very important function in making sure the water system is properly maintained and operates efficiently. Something that is often overlooked in many operator certification courses is a discussion on how a system is planned, designed, constructed, and repaired. While this section of the text will focus on several key aspects of introductory concepts of engineering and construction waterworks mathematics, the following paragraphs will highlight a general overview of the planning, design, construction, and repair processes.
