    Practice Exercises

    18 .

Your manager at WorldCorp has asked you to summarize information for various models of one of the company’s products. You are given the following information:

    Table information: Model column: RX-500, RX-600, RX-700, RS-99, RS-100. Price column: $17.99, $25.99, $35.99, $99.00, $114.99. Units Sold column: 5000, 4000, 3000, 2000, 1000. Bottom row reads: Total Revenue: $614,870.00.

Using this data and the skills learned in this and previous chapters, construct a short email/informal memo to your manager. Include a link to the Excel chart that summarizes the information provided.

    19 .
Create a table and chart in Excel showing your income and expenses over the last month. Use the skills learned in previous chapters to format the table and to select the appropriate chart for the data. Now create a Word document summarizing the key points evaluating your spending habits over the last month, along with strategies for the next month if appropriate. Integrate the Excel table and chart into the Word document.
    20 .
Select one of the Contextures sample data files presented. Download and open the file in Excel, and paste it into Word using the various options covered in this section. Which paste option gives you the best result?
    21 .

Using the information on TV sales in the Excel worksheet that follows, create a short memo (in Word) summarizing the data. Then create a brief PowerPoint presentation of two or three slides to supplement the memo. Integrate the slideshow into your Word document.

    Three tables display same information in Model column (E-900s, E-900m, E-900l, E-900xl), Inches column (32, 42, 55, 65), Price column ($170.00, $380.00, $550.00, $780.00). Units sold columns: Location X (8752, 10563, 9543, 4326); Location Y (6576, 8757, 5643, 2867); Location Z (9858, 11242, 10533, 5468). All three locations table: Units Sold (25186, 30562, 25719, 12661); Average Sold (8395, 10187, 8573, 4220).
    22 .

Using the Excel information that follows, embed the summary table from all three locations into a PowerPoint slide.

    All three locations columns - Model (E-900s, E-900m, E-900l, E-900xl); Inches (32, 42, 55, 65); Price (170, 380, 550, 780); Units Sold (25186, 30562, 25719, 12661); Avg Sold ($8,395.33, $10,187.33, $8573.00, $4220.33).
    23 .
Select one of the Contextures sample data files presented. Download the file, open it in Excel, and create a chart of the data in Excel. Create a short PowerPoint presentation about the data. Integrate the Excel information into the slides. Link the PowerPoint presentation into the Excel file.
    24 .
Using the information in the downloadable Practice Exercise worksheet, create an Excel table of the data. Import the data into Access. Filter the data by Home Stereo Systems. Export the filtered table to Excel.
    25 .
Go to the Microsoft 365 site to search for free templates. Search for an Excel template that includes data and a chart. Save the template to your computer. Go to your Google Drive and practice uploading the Excel file into the Drive. Now open the file in Google Sheets. Did the template import into Sheets to look like it did in Excel? Explain what happened.
    26 .
Go to Microsoft 365 site to search for free templates. Search for an Excel template that includes data and a chart. Open the template in Excel, and practice copying and pasting using the various options discussed in this section. Which paste option was the best to maintain the elements of the original template?
